Tribute: Greek comedian Thanassis Vengos dies aged 84
Best of Thanassis Vengos, by Video (cc) GameMNCstarts/ Youtube
Thanassis Vengos shot to fame in Hands Up, Hitler (‘Psila ta Heria Hitler’, 1962), where his character remembered life under the German occupation. The actor from Piraeus, Athens, was happily typecast as an average Joe Greek just getting by in his films - watch this short ‘best of’ (in Greek). He remains a slapstick symbol for a nation which well understands tough times. In his life he experienced exile and received the highest state order. Vengos leaves a wife and two children
