On 4 October the Argentinian folk singer and activist passed away, aged 74, after suffering kidney problems. ‘La Negra’, as she was nicknamed after her indigenous roots, was the symbol of the renewal of Latin American music, and the battle against inequality on her continent until her forced exile in Paris and Madrid.
