It is hard to decide
to watch a movie from Miyazaky, especially since he started spoiling
his loyal spectators with great works one-after-another: expectations
are always high as high is the risk to be disappointed.
Winner of the Grand Prix of official competition EurAsia is English-Irish prison drama “Hunger”, Latvians won the award for best Baltic film. The five members of the competition programme EurAsia jury unanimously decided to give the Grand Prix of the 12th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF) to „Hunger“ by English artist and director Steve McQueen.

A fattened Mickey

sports can offer.
The opening of the main programme of Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF) will take place tonight, 28 November at 18:00 in the Russian Theatre with Priit Tender’s new animation „Kitchen Dimensions“ with live music by Märt-Matis Lill, performed by NYYD Ensemble. The opening film of the festival is a comedy „Happy-Go-Lucky“
by award-winning British screenwriter and director Mike Leigh.
While the older generation of illustrators, working from former soviet
studios, export their art thanks to public financing, the younger ones
attempt to reconcile artistic creation and getting paid.
