France and Poland are rallying against Switzerland and the US to stop Paris-born director Roman Polanski’s arrest and extradition for sex with a minor in 1977. Does he deserve this attention?

Polanski is already free! Polish Government promised him protection against USA capturing attempts. It's more political thing...

of course actors and other artist are the same people like the others, however, it seems to me that people all over the world don't know much about the case and try to judge Polanski, but i haven't met with the opinion that he should be treated in a more lenient way only due to the fact that he is a director. most people reckon that he should be fairly treated, in the same way like other 'wrongdoers', but look, he is in a worse situation, because people everywhere know him at least have heard about him and know what he has done but they do now know the details of this case and cast aspersion upon him, often baselessly. if they say that he is a normal person, we should stop focusing on his 'crime' but admire his work. thanks
