OK, so we may have stretched the truth a bit here; Sophie's already been working for cafébabel for a few weeks now. But we still wanted to introduce you to our newest - and coolest - recruit...
Managing a community of local volunteer contributors, editing their articles, pitching subjects of European interest and actively participating in the life of our association: this is the job. Are you ready for it and available from October? Then send your application before 4 September!
Cafébabel is 15 years old! When we sat down to discuss how best to celebrate this glorious event, we weren't short of ideas. An interview with Queen Elizabeth II on the subject of Brexit? A rooftop party at European Parliament? An #EUtoo report beamed down from the moon? We finally settled on the magic of film! Here it is, made especially for Babelians everywhere: our anniversary video.
The central cafébabel newsroom in Paris recently welcomed a new team member: Natalia Kuc, who will be working alongside our Polish Editor for the next six months. We bring you an exclusive interview, including long walks around the off-licence store with Italo Calvino and some serious offenses on the part of the International Astronomical Union.
The Italian version of cafébabel can count on an extra pair of hands during its editorial transition. 23-year-old Lucrezia is from Lecco and studied in Milan; she’ll be on an internship in the cafébabel Paris office for the next two months. Welcome!
This month, cafébabel turns 15. Our director reflects on a decade and a half of nostalgia – typing on an old-fashioned computer and dressed in a snazzy cafébabel t-shirt – and comes to the conclusion that we couldn’t have done it without all of you.
It's not always so easy to speak a foreign language. Ask the Cafébabel editors...
In 2001 a group of Erasmus students founded the first online European magazine published in six languages.
Over the last thirteen years, Cafébabel has grown into a vast network of local teams in cities all over Europe, a living, breathing network that brings a sense of vitality to the European media landscape.
Now we're looking for new leaders! Come and join our project!
