Analysing the UK referendum on EU membership. Together with our European media partners, we are producing content to explain, deepen and understand the different perspectives of the UK referendum.
21-year-old Juliane studies English Language and Literature in Berlin. For the past two months, she's been undertaking a remote translation internship with cafébabel, translating articles on subjects as diverse as the Panama Papers and dolphins on drugs. We want to say a great big thank you!
It's been a while since this position has been vacant, and now we're looking for a young, energetic and creative native English speaker to fill it. Apply before the 26th of June 2016 if you think you have what it takes.
When one journalist leaves, there’s always another arriving. It's all change at the cafébabel newsroom: Stefano has just joined us in Paris and will be responsible for the Italian version of the site for the next ten months.
She arrived straight from Madrid with a suitcase full of dreams, though she still left room for her straw hat and diving goggles. She's travelled across the continent participating in European youth projects, and now she's hoping to fill our little magazine fit to bursting with videos.
Cafébabel is 15 years old! When we sat down to discuss how best to celebrate this glorious event, we weren't short of ideas. An interview with Queen Elizabeth II on the subject of Brexit? A rooftop party at European Parliament? An #EUtoo report beamed down from the moon? We finally settled on the magic of film! Here it is, made especially for Babelians everywhere: our anniversary video.
One of our colleagues is an artist, but she hides her paintings in her cupboard. She's afraid of being judged. Everyone has their own reasons to be shy – you can have yours – but you can always climb out of your cupboard and come meet us. On the 8th of May, 12:00 at the Stół Powszechny in Teatr Powszechny.
It’s April Fool’s Day and cafébabel wasn’t an exception to the rules. Yes, we were pulling your leg, our magazine is not dead. The opposite is true! That being said, there’s no need to beat around the bush, keeping an independent media running remains a daily battle. Yet he who laughs last, laughs best.
APRIL FOOL: The kind of article I dreaded one day having to write: cafébabel is no more. This decision, however difficult, has been taken collective by our entire team. After 15 years of life, we prefer to finish this adventure with dignity – ceasing all activity from the 1st of November 2016 – while inviting you to one final celebration in Paris to see out 15 years of exceptional journalism.
