I wonder what it feels like having your shitas collected! I couldn't imagine the initiative in London or Paris. It's the opposite of traditional! I like the thought, really shows an energy to Vilnius I didn't know existed. Is there any information on where the idea came from and why it's a Lithuanian thing?!

Hmmm... The spelling is "[Mes] Darom". "Šitas" means "this" in Lithuanian, I don't know where the story with energy comes from.

Also, "mielės" means yeast and "mEilės" is love ;)

Thanks for your wise rectifications Daiva! I am guessing that this is how foreigners quite rightly might have interpreted the word and the story without having handly Lithuanian guides :) Sorry to send Chinese whispers around. We will rectify the spelling mistakes in the slideshow, and keep your comments so we hang out heads in Šitas shame :)

Thanks for your feedback, Daiva. Obviously I don't speak Lithuanian very well! However, I had the feeling that Sheriff Ratkevicius was perhaps being a little creative with his linguistic abilities on this day - what he told us in English was that sometimes it is necessary to "get all your shit out", before he proceeded to wrap up the bag of bad energy while muttering "Šitas... šitas..." (or as I interpreted it, "Shitas... shitas...") to himself. Apologies for any confusion!
