The 61st Lola-German Film Awards were presented last Friday evening at the FriedrichstadtPalast in Berlin, with the Golden Lola for Best Film going to Ralf Huettner’s Vincent Wants to Sea, in which a young man with Tourette’s syndrome goes on a road trip, accompanied by his friends from the clinic and followed by his father and doctor, to fulfil his dead mother’s last wish to see the sea one last
time.

The box office hit (launched on April 22, 2010 by Constantin, it surpassed one million admissions), which has already won several awards and was nominated in five Lola categories, also earned Best Actor for Florian David Fitz (who also wrote the script).

The Silver Lola for Best Film went to upbeat title Almanya - Welcome to Germany by Yasemin Samdereli, who also scooped honours for the impressive screenplay she co-wrote with her sister Nesrin.
