The Second Home Photography Exhibition, which united eight of the best photographers in the Second Home Photography Contest 2013, cannot help but stay true to itself: after one short month in the café of betahaus berlin, the exhibition is moving on in search of a new home - just like so many young Europeans.
Taking the step from a first to a SECOND HOME, however, is more than the moment in which we pack our suitcases and climb on a boat, train or plane. Behind us lie our own well-known culture, traditions, family and friends, but maybe also unemployment, fear for our financial survival or boredom. Before us beckon enticing new lands: foreign languages, better job opportunities and new friendships. Why are we leaving? What places are we drawn to? How to use photography to illustrate migration movements? From April 7th to September 30th 2014, the Second Home Photography Exhibition will be on show at the Centre Marc Bloch (Friedrichstraße 191, Mitte). The official opening will take place on April 10th at 6pm when you will have to opportunity to meet some of the young photographers in the exhibition. The opening is followed by a panel discussion hosted by the Centre Marc Bloch during which we will share our thoughts and ideas on "Photography and Youth Migration in Europe".
Join the discussion with Jean-Paul Pastor Guzmán, winner of the Second Home Photography Contest, researchers Ingrid Tucci (DIW Berlin) and Serge Reubi (Centre Marc Bloch) as well as Elke Pohl, representing the Berlin Senate Delegate for Integration and Migration. Do you have something to say about youth, migration or photography? Don't miss the opportunity! We are looking forward to burning questions and exciting answers. More updates on Facebook and Twitter.
