A Russian company has developed a way for us all to enjoy a 3-D selfie. The product- shapify.me uses Microsoft Kinect to scan the customer's body from 8 angles before producing it using a 3-D printer. To hold a mini version of yourself in your hands- oh what joy!

Bring back the beaver

How can Britain deal with flooding without breaking the bank? Beavers, of course. The Mammal Society has proposed the reintroduction of the beaver as a potential panacea. The beaver's talent and enthusiasm for damming rivers is well known and could apparently provide a cost-effective remedy for river flooding.
