Do you love to write? Are you passionate about journalism and European affairs? Would you fancy joining the cafébabel team? Or maybe you are wondering where to complete a required internship to finish your studies? If you answered yes to any of these questions, we are looking for you!
cafébabel.com is a non-profit organisation, and therefore, cannot provide renumerated internships. We feel your pain and would be happy to provide any documentation necessary for funding (such as through the Erasmus + programme or scholarships provided by your university). This internship will take place at a distance, so you can work at home, for a maximum of two months on a part-time or full-time basis. Trainees must also have a 'convention de stage', meaning that the intern should be a student and/or require a placement to complete their studies.
About us: cafébabel is a European participatory online magazine published in six languages, led by a dynamic community of young citizen journalists from all over Europe. The project, which is co-funded by the European Commission, was established in 2001 as an initiative of a group of Erasmus students from different countries. Our editorial office is located in the 2nd arrondisement in Paris. The editorial team is composed of six editors who are passionate about journalism in Europe, multilingual, fun-loving and open to sharing our knowledge with you.
One motivated young person whose mother tongue is English (not restricted to EU nationals) with a high level of written communication looking for a breakthrough experience in journalism under the mentorship of the English language editor. It is imperative that you speak fluent Italian, German, French, Spanish or Polish. Our future trainee should have a passion for current European affairs and be familiar with the concept of participatory journalism. Those with excellent communication skills, creativity, love for learning, a fun personality and curiousity about the world are particularly encouraged to apply. Motivation is very important for this placement, as this opportunity is a learning experience meant to help you grow as a journalist and receive one-on-one guidance in a professional context.
- Help with day-to-day tasks in the English-language section such as social media presence
- Translate articles (from French, German, Italian, Spanish and/or Polish into English)
- Pitch and write articles with mentorship provided by editor
- Search for illustrations for articles and taking photos, as needed
HOW TO APPLY?
Send us your CV in English, a cover letter outlining what makes you the right addition to the English team and two article clippings showing us your skills.
