This Polish veteran soldier of the Second World War is about to spend a relaxing day with his family. Poland was the only country to fight against Germany from the first to the very last day of the conflict. From September 1 1939 to May 8 1945, around 2 million Polish citizens fought against Nazi Germany, whether in the regular armed forces or in the clandestine armies.
